No. Frontier internet plans free you from the worry of monitoring your data usage, going over a data limit, paying overage fees or dealing with reduced speeds at the end of the month. Our plans come with unlimited data.

Frontier internet services are available in select areas of 25 states. While Frontier FiberOptic is available in select areas of California, Florida, Indiana and Texas and growing, all locations on our map will have access to Frontier DSL service.

Choosing an internet plan is an individual decision and should be based on the projected usage, as well as your budget for the service. For light use like foe email and social media chatting, a speed of 50 MBPS may be adequate. If you intend to watch Netflix movies or play games on the internet, you will need the faster plans. The other factor you should consider is the number of users who will be simultaneously logged in to the network. The more the number, the greater the need for speed. So, define your usage and balance it out with your budget.

Internet services are delivered through these four technologies:

DSL internet – This is delivered through wired telephone lines using the unutilized higher frequencies of the network. AT&T, CenturyLink, and Frontier offer DSL internet service.

Cable internet – The network that delivered TV to your home can also deliver internet. It uses the same copper wiring as cable TV to provide broadband internet. Cox, Mediacom, Spectrum, Suddenlink, and Xfinity primarily offer cable internet connection.

Fiber internet – This is the latest technology and offers the fastest download speeds. These networks are in their growth stage. AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, and Verizon Fios have fiber internet networks.

Satellite internet – Largely for the use of remote locations that are off the grid. This is delivered by installing a dish receiver on the premise that received signals from geostationary satellites in space sent up for this purpose. Viasat and HughesNet are the two leading satellite internet service providers.

With the help of a router, any of these internet types can be transformed into Wi-Fi in your home.

Fiber-optic is the most recent technology that delivers the highest speeds. In addition to downloads, the upload speeds are also high thanks to its symmetrical configuration. Fiber lets you do anything you can on the internet, such as:

  • Working or schooling at home with video conferences
  • Facetime, Skype and Zoom calls
  • Streaming hi-definition video and music
  • Gaming (online multi-player gaming) with multiple devices

Frontier offers internet through two different technologies, DSL and Fiber. For our DSL internet, a modem is required. You can take the modem from Frontier or buy a compatible one yourself. A modem acts like a received for the internet signal into your location.

Our fiber network requires an optical network terminal (ONT) instead of a modem. At this point, you will need to get one from us.

A router, on the other hand, is optional. Its purpose is to generate the Wi-Fi signal that can be used in other parts of your home or office. Otherwise, the devices you wish to use internet on, will need to be wired into the modem. In effect, a router has become a necessary device in today’s world which is dependent on the internet. Again, you can take one from us, or buy your own.
