About Spectrum
Spectrum Mobile is a subsidiary company to Charter Spectrum, which represents a trade name of Charter Communications. This company trades in commercial and consumer internet, cable television, wireless and telephone service.
In June of 2018, Charter Communications founded Spectrum Mobile as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). This means that it doesn’t own the wireless network infrastructure over which it provides services to its customers. Only the aforementioned parent company owns the infrastructure, whereas Verizon Wireless provides Spectrum Mobile with the network it requires for its mobile service.
Even though it’s a recent addition to the telecommunications market, Spectrum Mobile has been able to keep up with most advances. Accordingly, the company enabled its customers to access 5G in March of 2020. All users who possess a compatible device and live in an area covered by 5G can acquire the network at no additional costs.
Furthermore, Spectrum Mobile features the Bring Your Own iPhone initiative. The same strategy started in 2019, and you can obtain this service online and in stores. However, if your device doesn’t have at least Android 9.0, this feature is out of reach.
The company also provides its users with high internet speeds. For instance, the 5G data speed can go as high as 450 Mbps, accompanied by a latency of up to 100ms. Additionally, the 4G LTE download speed can be as high as 12 Mbps, while the upload speed is limited to 5 Mbps with a latency that shouldn’t exceed 100ms.
Optimal Service Is Readily Available
All in all, Spectrum Mobile definitely boasts high-quality cell phone services. Its core package (By the Gig) might not be the most powerful plan on the market, but it does offer a decent number of features at a reasonable price. If you decide to invest in the Unlimited or Unlimited Plus plan, the story gets even better.
